The Mogadishu Environmental Summit is Somalia’s premier multi-stakeholder platform for advancing climate resilience, environmental justice, and sustainable urban development. Held annually in Mogadishu, MES brings together a powerful coalition of actors government leaders, civil society, businesses, researchers, and youth to reimagine and redesign the future of the city through collaborative action.
MES is a space for learning, action, and co-creation: where innovative ideas meet policy discussions, where local entrepreneurs connect with global partners, and where Mogadishu’s green future is shaped.
MES was born out of the urgent need to tackle environmental degradation, poor urban infrastructure, and climate injustice in Somalia’s capital. Over the years, MES has grown into a national movement fostering inclusive dialogue, green entrepreneurship, policy innovation, and climate education.
Accessibility & Inclusion
MES ensures all sessions are accessible to persons with disabilities, offers live translation in Somali, English, and Arabic, and maintains a strong focus on gender equality, youth empowerment, and community inclusion.
